Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) is the oldest cycle race in history, and is no longer a race but rather a 1200km Audax Randonnee which is held every 4 years.
On August 20, 2007 more than 4,000 randonneurs will gather in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines to enter into the legend of the Pairs-Brest-Paris (PBP) Randonneur. Since 1931, thousands of randonneurs have tried their hand at the most famous brevet at “allure libre” (self paced rides), the 1200 km PBP, which must be completed in 90 hours, the present maximum time limit.
The Road to PBP blog is about tracking the trials, tribulations, successes and failures of a mid-aged guy trying to qualify to ride in the 16th Paris-Brest-Paris on Auguest 20, 2007. The date is rather significant to me in that the 20th of August will also mark my 42nd birthday.

Hi!
I’m headed for Paris in August as well–it’s always nice to find other bike-crazy types out there in the world! I’m blogging my adventure at bookwoman.com; I’ll put up a link to your site.
Keep writing (and riding)!
Lisa
